HAIR EXTENSION AFTERCARE

Do not skip out on your at home care! These instructions will ensure the health and quality of your brand new extensions, and your natural hair, so please review them thoroughly.

WASH

  • Wash maximum 3 times per week, using dry shampoo as needed

  • Brush before washing. Be sure to hold the base of the weft securely to avoid tension

  • Use salon quality shampoo & conditioner to prolong the life of your hair color and extensions

  • Gently shampoo in between your rows, never scrub vigorously

  • Double shampoo if you’re feeling extra dirty

  • Rinse extremely well, leaving no product behind

  • Apply conditioner from midshaft to ends, avoiding the base of the wefts

  • Rinse extremely well, leaving no product behind

  • Mask weekly for strength and hydration

SWIM

  • My preference is for chlorine (pool water) to never touch your extensions

  • Before getting in the ocean or pool:

  • First wet your hair and apply a deep conditioner or mask

  • Next, braid your hair out of the way

  • Finally, wash your hair immediately afterwards

  • Some sunscreen and tanning products can discolor your extensions. Always clip your hair up out of the way and be careful when applying

DRY

  • Towel dry by blotting, never rubbing strands together

  • Always use a Wet Brush

  • Apply leave-in conditioner and oil to the mids and ends of your hair

  • The proper way to brush: start at the ends and work your way up, stopping when you reach the top of the hair. hold the base of the weft to avoid tension

  • Start with your natural hair underneath the bottom row first, brushing that out

  • Next, brush out your bottom weft. starting at the ends and working up

  • Next, brush out the natural hair in between your rows

  • Next, brush out your top weft. starting at the ends and working up

  • Finally, brush out your natural hair on top to complete the process

  • Dry the base of your extensions 100% (leaving them wet can cause cradle cap or mold to grow)

  • Rough dry the remainder of your hair 80%

  • You can air dry from here, or blow dry completely with a round brush before using heated styling tools

SLEEP

  • Always go to bed with 100% DRY hair

  • Do a loose braid or low ponytail to prevent tangles

  • A silk pillowcase or silk bonnet are key in reducing frizz and maintaining your style
